Parking Lot Design and Operations

Kittelson LLC has worked on numerous cases of multi-vehicle and vehicle-pedestrian crashes in parking areas.  Our team has a long history of assessing parking impacts associated with condemnation actions and changes in land use. We regularly review and design commercial, office, institutional, residential, and industrial parking lot facilities and conduct parking lot safety audits for existing parking facilities.

We are experienced with nationally recognized parking lot design principles, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations, and driver and pedestrian expectations in parking lots. Our knowledge includes appropriate use of traffic control devices, speed control, crosswalks, and parking space markings. We developed the “Four Color” parking lot analysis and evaluation procedures used within Kittelson to assess parking lot circulation and interaction between various users. Further, our experts have developed parking supply, demand, and occupancy profiles by time of day and day of week for on-street parking and surface lots as well as structured parking for standalone and shared parking facilities.
